Shuttering Capenters
The Project
We are seeking Shuttering carpenters to join a major structural School project in Portsmouth and residential housing project in Fordham, Cambridge specifically focusing on the delivery of a multi-span structure and residential houses. This is a technically demanding role centered on high-spec reinforced concrete (RC) construction, requiring Carpenters who are expert in substructure and superstructure concrete delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out carpentry repair and renewal works across various properties.
- Advising your supervisor when additional support or materials are needed.
- Working independently or collaboratively with other operatives.
- Completing daily work sheets detailing tasks and materials used.
- Ensuring timely and productive completion of assigned tasks.
- Interpret construction drawings, site plans, and method statements
- Set out and construct formwork for concrete structures (foundations, columns, beams, slabs, staircases)
- Ensure formwork is aligned, level, and braced correctly before concrete pours
- Strip (remove) shuttering safely after curing of concrete
- Carry out repairs and reuse materials efficiently
- Work closely with site engineers, supervisors, and steel fixers
- Maintain site safety standards in line with UK regulations
Qualifications & Requirements
- Relevant construction or carpentry qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Formwork)
- CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
- CITB Health & Safety certification (preferred)
- Proven experience in carpentry.
- Ability to work to high standards of workmanship and productivity.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong customer service mindset and ability to meet tight deadlines
Working Conditions
- Typically works on construction sites (indoor & outdoor)
- May require long hours, weekends, or shifts depending on project deadlines
- Exposure to noise, dust, and varying weather conditions
